  • Salem swimmers are student-athletes.  Therefore, all swimmers must attend mandatory study hall on Thursday afternoons from 3:10 to 4:10 p.m.  Failure to attend or make prior arrangements with Coach Boyd or Coach Hill will result in not swimming in meets.
  • Be on your best behavior at all times.  Remember that you are representing Salem High School at practices and meets.
  • Show good sportsmanship to your fellow swimmers, coaches, and officials.
  • Practices are designed to increase your endurance and muscle strength as well as improve your stroke technique.  Please plan to be at practice on time so that you can participate in the entire practice.  Practice is mandatory!
  • During meets, swimmers must compete in their assigned events and be at the block in a timely fashion.
  • All athletes must complete the season for any sport in which they participate before going out for a subsequent sport.  All coaches follow this rule; therefore, your chances to participate are not affected.

Criteria to Letter:

  • The 10 high point swimmers (5 girls and 5 boys) with good practice attendance (80%) earn a letter. More swimmers may letter at coaches’ discretion.
  • A swimmer individually qualifying for the State Meet automatically earns a letter.
  • A swimmer who has been a member of the Salem Swim Team for four years earns a letter.

We look forward to working with each of you, and we hope you are enthusiastic as well.  We anticipate an excellent season with so many talented athletes returning to this team.  If you have not seen water in a while, NOW IS THE TIME.  Do not wait for the first practice; if you do, you will be behind.  We look forward to seeing you poolside on October 22nd.

                                                                                      Sincerely,
Coach Boyd and Coach Hill
